Nextmune Allergy Program

The gold standard in allergy management

Nextmune’s allergy programme is the gold standard and the world’s number one in terms of allergy diagnostics and treatment. Nextmune offers a complete product range, from PAX® – innovative and high-quality diagnostics – to the only licensed immunotherapy in Europe – Artuvetrin® Therapy.

PAX® Serum Test

Pet Allergy Xplorer (PAX®) is the first commercial serological IgE-specific test that uses allergen extracts and molecular components to identify allergen sensitivities.
Molecular allergology is a state-of-the-art approach to the detection of sensitisations, whereby defined single allergen components are used for the determination of specific IgE in place of traditionally-used allergen extracts. The molecular components are purified or recombinant proteins that provide a higher level of standardisation than allergen extracts and enable a more precise identification of IgE sensitisations.

PAX® advantages:

  • First quantitative multiplex macroarray specifically designed for companion animals
  •  Over 200 allergens included = lower testing cost per allergen
  •  Fully automated process = higher level of standardization (same result if tested multiple times)
  • With CCD blocking and 2 blocking efficiency detectors
  • Only 0.5 ml of serum needed per test
  • Expected increase in serological test sensitivity due to a higher concentration of molecular allergens
  • Identification of ”primary” sensitizing allergens
  • Identification of allergen cross-reactivities
  • Selection of relevant allergens for specific immunotherapy

NextEQuine Serum Test

NextEQuine Serum Test is the most specific horse-serum test on the market. This innovative serological test detects IgE in the serum of horses. Our proprietary monoclonal antibody 1C12, derived from a recombinant horse-specific IgE, guarantees the highest level of specificity and sensitivity.

PAX® Food Test

While there is no doubt that the current testing of food allergens has not been sufficiently predictive of food allergy to justify their use in clinical practice, as we reported in a recent critically-appraised topic, the use of molecular allergology warrants to reevaluate this position.

There is evidence that food allergies—an etiologic diagnosis—represent, in fact, a group of clinically and pathogenically-different entities, from the IgE-mediated urticaria, angioedema and anaphylaxis to the cell-mediated gastro-intestinal diseases; food-induced atopic dermatitis likely involving both mechanisms. IgE sensitization tests, are only designed to detect the sensitizations of IgE-mediated food allergies, which are those with signs recurring within the first hours after an oral food challenge.

As such, the PAX® offers an attractive solution to detect IgE sensitizations to molecular food allergens, which should prove of help to select allergens for oral food challenge and/or to select food ingredients unlikely to cause immediate reactions.

Why and when can PAX Food be helpful:

  • For pets with IgE mediated food allergies (those with immediate reactions after an oral food challenge)
  • To help identify patterns of allergen cross-reactivity
  • To help prioritize the order of oral food challenges
  • To help identify foods unlikely to cause immediate reactions

Artuvetrin® Skin Test

Artuvetrin® Skin Test is an intradermal test that identifies which environmental allergens the patient is reactive to. By injecting small doses of allergens into the skin (and depending on the subsequent skin reaction) it is possible to determine which allergens the patient is sensitive to.

Artuvetrin® Therapy

Artuvetrin® Therapy is the only licensed immunotherapy in Europe. It treats the root cause of the allergy and reduces the symptoms. Artuvetrin Therapy® is tailored specifically to the individual patient. After determining what the dog, cat or horse is allergic to using our allergy tests, the allergy can be kept under control. Symptoms are greatly reduced and potentially eliminated. This therapy has proven efficacy (75%) and safety, and therefore can be given over long periods.
