Once allergy is confirmed or strongly suspected, the next challenge is choosing the right diagnostic and treatment strategy — and setting realistic expectations for owners. In Part 2, we focus on the tools that help you move from suspicion to management: elimination diets, allergy testing and treatment options for allergic pruritus in cats.

Anne will cover how to plan and support an elimination diet in real-life practice, when allergy testing is relevant, and how to interpret results. The session also includes an overview of treatment strategies for feline allergic itch, including symptomatic therapy and long-term management approaches.

Anne Aagaard Nielsen,

DVM, Veterinary Dermatologist with a Passion for Cats

Anne Aagaard Nielsen, veterinarian, graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 2017, has built a strong and engaging career within veterinary dermatology. She worked for nearly five years at Dyrlæge Boysen – a specialised dermatology clinic for dogs and cats in Denmark. After completing a Master’s degree at the University of Luxembourg in December 2022, Anne joined the dermatology department at Evidensia Göteborg Djursjukhus.

Anne shares her expertise through professional articles, including “Ectoparasitic Skin Diseases in Cats” and “Allergic Skin Diseases in Cats”, published in Magasinet Dyrlægen (a Danish vet magazine). She has also contributed to research in veterinary dermatology, which she has presented at the ESVD Congress.

With a particular passion for dermatological conditions in cats, Anne is currently based in Gothenburg, where she lives with her husband, an energetic English Setter, and a young Birman cat. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the Swedish countryside and life in and around Gothenburg.
