Sublingual immunotherapy is an alternative to the subcutaneous Artuvetrin® Therapy injection. The sublingual form is administered by spraying the immunotherapy into the mouth, between the cheek and gum, on a daily basis. No food or drink is allowed for 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after administration. One vial of sublingual immunotherapy lasts for 3–6 months (depending on the patient’s weight) and contains a maximum of 12 allergens per vial.

Sublingual immunotherapy is a good option in the following situations:

  • Patient or owner has aversion to needles
  • Patient has adverse events with injections
  • Patient does not show improvements with subcutaneous immunotherapy
  • Daily administration is the preferred routine
